Kind of a dumb question here but have been searching the good ol internet and can't find what I am looking for. Trying to find a dead blow for hitting knock rails when unloading grain trailer. Looking for the ones that have a handle and then looks like a rubber bulb on the end. Must not be using the correct name for them in my search as I can't get one to pop up. Anybody know the correct name??? Thanks |

I just searched dead blow hammer and got plenty of choices. I think 1 off tool truck might be worth it.

We buy ours at Harbor Freight, then when they break all we have to bring back in is the handle and they will give you another for free. Pro tip, make sure you keep it inside your heated cab in the winter, they get very brittle in the cold. |

Got mine out of a hardware store in California. Can't remember what it was called. Male sure to get a extra handle they're easy to change out.

I don't run a hopper, but the best tool for getting sticky product out of a hopper that I've seen other than vibrators is a solid plastic sledge hammer. Not sure where you would get one, but I've seen guys use them in the DDG lines at Joliet. A regular rubber mallet won't do much.

They have name brand dead blow sledges that have slight molding defects. They sand off the brand name and sell them at a pretty large discount. I keep a big one and a small one in my trucks. |

Lots of home made plastic sledgehammers. Use a plastic post and add a plastic handle. That’s what the guys running DDGs use anymore. Myself, I have always carried a wooden handle Almond knocker. They were what everyone used when I was pulling the hopper all the time. I do have good vibrators, but lots of times all you have to do is hit the bottom rail a time or two and you start the load going. If you use the vibrators first you pack it down where you have to fight the entire load off.
