Flatbed pay per mile swings with the lane, the season, and how specialized the load is. Short regional runs and specialized heavy haul pay well above a general average, while long empty-heavy lanes pay below it. A flatbed has one continuous deck about 5 feet off the ground and legally hauls freight up to roughly 8 feet 6 inches tall. A step deck drops to a lower main deck behind the tractor, which buys roughly 1 foot 6 inches of extra height, so a load up to about 10 feet tall clears the legal height limit. Both are typically 48 or 53 feet long with a 48,000 pound capacity.

Every load on FlatLoads carries a trust panel on the posting itself: the poster's MC number, how long they have been a member, their average days to pay, any non-payment record against them, and their member ratings from carriers who have already hauled for them. Carriers who have cleared FMCSA authority verification carry a Verified mark. That history, plus a forum where carriers name slow-pay outfits directly, is the practical way to vet somebody you have not worked with.

You choose who can see it, and carriers running that lane get alerted as soon as it matches.
