We ran round bottoms Mac's several years ago, switched to square because of all the cracking problems. In recent years we've tried a newer Mac round bottom and bought a new Mac round as well. Still have 5 square trailers also. The square trailers just work, more capacity (but ususally not needed with what we haul), and never crack. We have a 2005 East Gensis that looks just as good as a new one structurally. The Mac's are lighter, I like how there isn't a hoist box for the load to stick or hang up around. Best advice I got if your looking at used Mac's - make sure you get one new enough to have the rounded front, believe it was around 2014-2015 time frame. A lot of reeningering was done at that time that fixed all the cracking issues - and I have to say I agree with that. We have a 2020 bought used in 2021 and bought a new one in 2023 and they have been great. |
